Info from two cabin owners regarding Evergreen Issues in the HOA
Barbara Mugleston:
Last fall Needle Cast Fungus started in one tree and spread to about 10 by the time we figured it out. We had it treated last fall and again this spring to prevent it recurring again. The Needle Cast Fungus starts in the inside of the limbs and works outward. (see accompanying picture).
The brown that you are seeing on ours now is from winter freeze as well. However, ours has a lot of new growth coming which we are so thankful. The company that sells all the pesticides and fertilizing to companies told us to give our trees a full year with the winter freeze that they should come back in which most of them are at this time.
Mark Elstad:
MD Nursery came to look at our new trees (planted 2022). They shared this: As you know this was a hard winter on trees. There are some things that can be done. For the evergreens, an anti-desiccant spray can be applied on them that would help in the winter burn. The anti-desiccant spray helps keep the water in the needles, so they don’t dry out in the harsh wind and cold. It is called: Moisture-Loc https://conserveawater.com/moisture-loc/
It can be applied using a hose sprayer or other methods.
